Over 3 million Americans voted for a Libertarian candidate in the last election. Libertarian presidential candidate Michael Badnarik was on more state ballots than Ralph Nader. The Libertarian candidate for president has appeared on all 50 state ballots, plus D.C., for the past three elections. No other third party has done so twice in a row. Libertarians in office save Americans over $1 billion every year by cutting taxes. 1972 Libertarian candidate for Vice-President, Tonie Nathan, was the first woman in US history to receive an electoral college vote.

welcome your participation and support. • • • • • • • • • • • • • Committee Fills Positions The Executive Committee of the Arkansas Libertarian Party met in Conway on the evening of Tuesday February 5th. The resignation of Gary Golden as the second district representative was accepted. The committee voted to approve Jim Hudson as the second district representative and appoint Morris Middleton to the treaurer's position. • • • • • • • • • • • • • Executive Committee Meeting The Executive Committee of the Arkansas Libertarian Party will be meeting in Conway on the evening of Tuesday February 5th. Members of the state party may attend the entire meeting. Input and participation will be at the Chair's discretion. Other interested persons may meet and greet the group prior to or after the business session. For those of you who support Ron Paul today stop by to find out where he came from. Remember we (the Libertarian Party) ran him for president 20 years ago. The location will be in Conway however the specific meeting place is still being arranged. The meet and greet will begin around 8 pm. Current plans call for the business session to begin at 9 pm and it is expected to last about 30 minutes. • • • • • • • • • • • • • Arkansas LP Chair to Appear on AETN Program Gerhard Langguth, Arkansas Libertarian Party Chair, has taped a 14-minute segment of "Unconventional Wisdom" with hosts Warwick Sabin and David Sanders of AETN (Arkansas Educational Television Network) in Conway. The other guest was Mark Swaney of the Green Party. This program is in the "Crossfire" style with questions, answers and discussion. "Unconventional Wisdom" is scheduled to air on AETN Friday, April 28, at 6:30 pm., with possible repeats during the next week. Check your local listings. District Three Representative Position Filled At its December meeting the Executive Committee, in accordance with the party constitution, filled the vacant position of district three representative formerly held by Keith Waters. The new representative from the northwestern part of Arkansas is Storm Nolan. Storm Nolan is Vice President of Whitt Properties, LLC, a Fort Smith based real estate development company with a concentration in hotels. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University, where he studied Hospitality (Hotel) Management. While at Cornell, Storm was the President of the Student Committee for Continuous Improvement and Board Member of the Cornell Entrepreneur Organization, and he graduated third in his class. Storm is currently on the Board of Directors of the Arkansas Self Storage Association and the Leadership Fort Smith Alumni Association. He is a Libertarian because this is truly the only party of logic and reason. Storm converted because of personal testimony from a good friend and after reading Ayn Rand’s philosophy. Arkansas LP Press Secretary Tom Carpenter, currently representative for district four, will also serve as press secretary. He was appointed by Gerhard Langguth, state chair, to the position. Tom plans to release position statements on behalf of the party on state-wide issues, particularly on issues that appear on state ballots. Tom believes that on far too many issues the voters in Arkansas only hear the Republican and Democratic positions on these issues while voters never hear a Libertarian alternative. On far too many issues voters hear only debates about keeping government at the current level or expanding government involvement in people’s lives. The libertarian alternative of government restricted to protecting property and civil rights and staying out of people’s lives is not part of the debate. The Libertarian Party here in Arkansas is dedicated to changing the questions in these debates. • • • • • • • • • • • • • |
